Bio:
Since first presenting original work at the 92nd St. Y, Ellen's company, ellen stokes shadle/DanceWorks, has also been seen at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, The Bridge for Dance, Dance Space Center (now Dance New Amsterdam), Dance Forum, FIT, the Joyce SoHo, the Merce Cunningham Studio, The Strand Theater (NJ), New York University's Frederick Loewe Theater, Sal Anthony's Movement Salon, St. Mark's Church, and University Settlement. Her work has been presented by Jennifer Muller/The Works HATCH, Thang Dao Contemporary Dance Festival, dancenow/downtown (now dancenow/nyc), William Smith College, Davidson Dance Group, Torque Dance, Uptown Performance Series, Andary Dance (Providence, RI), American Dance Guild, Dancers Responding to AIDS (Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS), Silk City Arts Festival, and The Élan Awards. Ellen has served as Artist-in-Residence at Greenwich Academy and a 2009 recipient of a Manhattan Community Arts Fund grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. She is an active member of The Field, and a certified Pilates instructor and instructor trainer.
